Carmarthenshire Cup Semi Final for our Under 15’s

This coming Sunday our Under 15’s will welcome Tumble to the park for the semi final of the Carmarthenshire Cup. It is the latest Quins junior team to taste semi final action with the Under 16’s and Under 13’s already through to their respective finals which are scheduled to be played in early April.

So far in the competition the young Quins have beaten Kidwelly in the preliminary round 38 points to nil in what was a tougher encounter than the score suggests. In the Quarter Final the game was much tighter against a big Llandovery side but the Quins emerged victorious 15pts to 13pts.

The squad have been together more or less since mini rugby days and the men behind the team who have developed the players to get to this point are Grant Wrigglesworth (Head Coach), Chris Bowen (Forwards Coach) Jonathon Thomas and Adrian Jones (Assistant Coaches) and not forgetting Lee Edwards as the important fist aider. All of them are rightly proud of the achievements so far this season and previously but will be looking to go that extra step and become the next Quins team to reach a final.

In fact the development of the team has resulted in 12 players playing representative rugby this evening. 10 of the squad will turn out for Carmarthen and District Schools, 1 for Ceredigion Schools and 1 for Llanelli and District Schools. This is testament to the set up but also the dedication of the squad (not only those selected but those who continue to push for honours).

The squad were actually Carmarthenshire Cup Champions at Under 12s and went on to win the Regional trophy by beating Haverfordwest at Parc Y Scarlets. In fact in that same year our current Under 16’s were Carmarthenshire Cup and Regional Champions at Under 13’s.

Kick off this Sunday is 10.30am in the park and the team and the club would welcome any support from club members who do not usually watch our thriving junior teams.
