With a lot of rugby played in the last season, our Under 16’s had one last hurrah in Junior rugby by heading to London on Bank Holiday weekend for an end of season tour.
Heading East travelling in style with Coracle Coaches the squad was fed and watered en-route by a kind donation from Carmarthen’s Morrison’s store who provided sandwiches, fruit and water for the journey to the big Smoke.
On Saturday prior to their own Sunday games the squad headed off to Twickenham to take in the Annual Army v Navy game that always sees a boisterous and loud crowd. As it was end of season tour we all know that fancy dress is mandatory at some point so with Saturday a day of down time this was the day selected for fancy dress and you can see below that no one opted out and they all got involved much to the delight of all involved.
A great day was had by all.
On the Sunday the squad headed to Harlow to play their games where they played hosts Harlow and Bishops Stortford and in two keenly fought games the Quins came out on top. Below is photo of the players involved from the Quins plus the other teams there on the Sunday.
What is pleasing for the club and one we are only to happy to share with you all is a message we have received via Social Media from a parent of a team that the Quins didn’t play against and it is this:
“Evening all
My Son played in the under 16s tournament in Harlow today, although we did not get to play against your lads we just wanted to say how well your lads represented your club both on and off the pitch and showed great sportsmanship to all the other teams.
We wish the club all the very best for the future and next time we are in Wales we will try to make it to one of their games.
Congratulations on a great tournament lads, hopefully meet you all again in the future
Graham (Brentwood rugby club)”
It is testament to the Coaches, Parents and the Players themselves that they receive this recognition and as a Club we are extremely proud to receive this message.

On Monday the team then headed off to take on Rosslyn Park which may have been a game too far but the boys gave their all before facing a 39 points to 21 points defeat.
A huge thank you to Coracle Coaches for transferring everyone safely, Morrison’s Carmarthen for the refreshments, Tegfan Garage and A & M Generators for sponsoring the tour hoodies. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
After an outstanding weekend some of the squad had their attentions turned to Regional Age Grade Rugby where the Scarlets East and West Teams played against each other. The East ran out winners 27 points to 7 points in an entertaining game.
Pictured below are the Quins contingent from both teams: Oli Hawke, Dylan Rowe, Carwyn Thomas, Dylan Davies, Roan Smith, Gruff Williams, Elis Thomas, Steffan Evans, Owain Hari-Davies and Elis Price.
All at the club congratulate all involved with this years Under 16’s and we can’t wait to see you remain in the famous Cardinal Amber and Black colours of Carmarthen Quins and wish you well on furthering your rugby journey.
