Congratulations to Saturday’s eight debutants

Carmarthen Quins got their 2026-27 Super Rygbi Cymru season underway on Saturday, September 12, at Carmarthen Park.

Despite the disappointment of a defeat to Cardiff, and failing to pick up any points from what was a competitive start to the season, it was a positive to see eight young players make their Quins debuts.

Super Rygbi Cymru is the pathway for young players to transition into regional rugby.

Since the launch of the SRC game time has increased significantly for players that are under-20.

Seven of the eight players who made their debuts on Saturday were 20 years of age or younger.

Those who were handed their Quins debuts were Tomos Lewis (20), Jayden Brown (18), Ashton Owen (18), Madoc Evans (17), Alfie Luger (18), Hudson Nevin (18), Scott Davies (23), and Theo Rogers (18).

Director of Rugby Steff Thomas said: “We had eight boys making their debuts today. That’s eight people who have 80-odd minutes or so of SRC rugby under their belt now moving forward, and they’ll be better for that.”
