Carmarthen Quins v Aberystwyth College

CARMARTHEN WEEKLY REPORTER 13th FEBRUARY 1914

 QUINS v ABERYSTWYTH COLLEGE

On Saturday last the Harlequins journeyed to Aberystwyth with a very weak team owing to several of the regular players making the journey to Cardiff.

The game was well contested, and soon after the start Yorke scored for the Quins, and A. Wattson converted, and Owen Jenkins, the first reserve Welsh International three-quarter scored an unconverted try for Aberystwyth. The Quins eventually ran out winners by five points to three.

NOTES

The Quins on Saturday broke two records. They were the first team to beat Aber this season, and they were the first team to cross their line this season. Although the Quins were much weakened by absentees, the recruits rose to the occasion and played a marvellous game, the tackling of Tom Thomas undoubtedly saving the Quins from defeat. The other recruits namely Morgan, Walton, and Morris played finely. The backs all played well. Ley was acting captain.

TRANSFER REFUSED

Mr Henry Thomas, the Quins brilliant wing three-quarter has, been refused his transfer to Llanelly pending inquiries by the W.F.U.
