Next game: Cornish Pirates this Saturday

The summer may officially be over, and the children are back in school, but the rugby season is just getting started!

This Saturday we welcome our old friends, Cornish Pirates, to Carmarthen Park for our final pre-season friendly, before competition kicks off in earnest in Super Rygbi Cymru on Saturday 14th September.

Hot on the heels of Saturday’s regional clash against the Scarlets, our Cornish friends will offer a final test and an opportunity to check and refine the summer’s progress.

The association, and friendship, with the Cornish Pirates is one that has blossomed over the years and one that we’re excited to see continue for years to come.

Many players over the years have headed south to ply their rugby trade and enjoy the hundreds of sandy beaches and picturesque harbour villages that Cornwall is world-famous for.

Current Carmarthen Quins scrum half, Rhodri Davies, represented the Pirates for two seasons and upon leaving in 2021 said;

“I will be departing from the Cornish Pirates and Cornwall with nothing but fond memories and would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the coaches, players and everyone involved for the opportunities to represent such a great club.”

Former Scarlets wing Darren Daniel enjoyed spells with us here at the Quins and at Pirates as well as centre Rheon James.

Cornish native Louis Tonkin continued his coaching experience with Cornish Pirates, joining the West Country side in 2021, after a spell as Head Coach here at the Quins.

We extend a very warm welcome aboard to players, staff, friends and family of Cornish Pirates this Saturday.

Carmarthen Quins v Cornish Pirates, Saturday 7th September, kick-off 2.30pm.

Entry is priced at £10 with free entry for those under 16.
