Special Tie Awards – 200 Anthony Dragone

Anthony made 230 appearances for the Quins 1st XV between 1984 and 2000 made up of 176 league; 34 cup and 20 friendlies. He has yet to be presented with his 1st XV 200 + appearances tie.


  • Anthony played at centre for the Quins Youth XV and gained several Youth XV Welsh caps
  • He was invited for international trials with Italy for their 6 Nations and World Cup but remained loyal to the Welsh cause.
  • Made his debut at centre with the 1st XV in 1984 v Narberth when just 17 years old
  • First season as Quins captain was in 1989/90 but he then moved to First Class rugby turning out for Maesteg; Aberavon and Llanelli
  • Re-joined Quins in 1993 and was captain again in 1994/95 & 1995/96
  • Scored 20 points against Pontypool United in April 1996 including four tries
  • Put over a penalty and conversion in the 15-6 win over Ystradgynlais to win the Tovali Cup in 1994/95
  • He scored 75 tries and was a prolific goal kicker amassing 811 points (238 in conver-sions & 363 in penalties
  • Coached the 1st XV for several seasons after hanging up his boots.
