“DOUBLE WIN”

9TH September 1977

      Carmarthen 13pts:       Cardigan 3pts.

Carmarthen made a very good start to the season by beating Cardigan with a very strong side. Cardigan took an early lead with a well struck penalty by their stand-off half, but this was short lived with a superb penalty by Bleddyn Griffiths from the touch line.

Quins got into their stride early in the second half when the powerful Graham Walters crashed through for a magnificent try which Griffiths converted.

The last try was a tremendous affair. Michael Owens picked up a loose ball well inside his own half. Owens combined with Robert Thomas and David Jacob who ran powerfully for forty yards before transferring to Keith Evans who scored wide out to make the final score 13 points to 3.
