Tom Phillips appointed Head Coach of Carmarthen Quins RFC

Carmarthen Quins RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of former club captain Tom Phillips as Head Coach for the 2026-27 season.

A proud Quin both on and off the field, Tom has been heavily involved in coaching for several years alongside his playing career and has earned a strong reputation for developing young talent across the region. In his professional role with the Scarlets academy pathway, he continues to play an important part in nurturing the next generation of players.

Tom is currently working towards his Level 4 coaching qualification, reflecting both his ambition and commitment to continual development within the game.

Director of Rugby Steff Thomas said:

“We’re delighted to appoint Tom as Head Coach. He understands the values of this club, has a genuine passion for developing players, and has already contributed so much both on and off the field.

“As a club, we’re proud to invest in people and support coaches on their journey. Seeing Emyr Phillips, Josh Turnbull and Rich Kelly progress into professional coaching roles in Welsh rugby has been fantastic, and we believe Tom has all the qualities to continue that pathway in the future.

“Most importantly for us, we’re excited about the journey ahead and continuing to build on the strong foundations laid this season.”

Speaking on his appointment, Tom said:

“I’m thrilled to be named Head Coach of the Quins. Having been involved with the club for a few seasons, I know how much this club means to the players and supporters.

“We’ve seen fantastic growth in the squad this season, and we can’t wait to get back to work and take the next step in our journey.”

Everyone at Carmarthen Quins RFC would like to congratulate Tom on his appointment and wish him every success in the role.
