Carmarthen Quins entertained Mumbles at a wet and windy Abergwili and once again came away with a great win by 31 points to 3.
The Quins were guilty of trying to play too much football in the first half, lost their shape and generally it was not one of their better performances. However, in the second half the game plan was changed and the tries started to come. Up front Dai Halpin, Ricky Davies and Dane Bush were always busy and looking to carry the ball while Aled Evans seemed to be everywhere influencing play and Osian Hughes had one of his best games for the Club. Generally some of the handling was superb particularly in light of the awful conditions.
Behind the pack Carmarthen looked to run the ball at the Mumbles defence and Olly Thomas, Dion Howells and Jamo Thomas were keen to ask questions of their opposition. At the same time full back, George Gleeson, was simply outstanding.
This bonus point victory will give the Quins a lot of confidence going into next week’s match away to Llandovery, who are also enjoying a good start to the season winning seven of their nine games. It should be a great match with a local derby feel and a large crowd expected to journey to Church Bank.
