The Quins travelled to top of the league, Llangennech, and lost a great game of rugby by 20 points to 16.
The Quins were winning with a minute to go before the home side pounced for the winning try. It looked as if the ball had crossed the dead ball line but the referee awarded the touchdown. However, the game was played in excellent spirit with both sides attacking at every opportunity and, at times, defending for their lives. The Carmarthen pack seemed to have the edge but the Llangennech back line had plenty of pace.
Among the Quins pack Ricky Davies, Iwan Davies, Dai Halpin and Steve Beynon stood out and allowed the half back pairing of Paul Beddis and Steff Richards to have excellent games. Other notable performances came from Dion Howells, Thomas James, Johnny Gosling and Ollie Thomas.
The Quins were left feeling disappointed with a last minute defeat but will learn a lot from the experience. They also needed a tough physical battle before next week’s home game against Waunarlwydd.
