Carmarthen Quins 2nd. XV travelled to Narberth and produced a brilliant team performance enabling them to return with a 55 – 5 victory. The performance was probably the best of the season by some margin with handling skills and running rugby on display which would grace many a rugby pitch.
The pack destroyed their opposition. Ricky Davies once again led from the front and was ably backed by the back row of Mathew Morgan, Liam Fitzpatrick and Dai Halpin. At the same time Paul Gravell had probably his best game in the Quins colours.
Behind the pack the backs seemed prepared to run the ball at every opportunity. Olly Thomas and Alun Howells looked after the distribution and centres, Dion Howells and Darren Simpson, were simply a class apart. With the glut of possession they received the wings, Chris Phillips and Martain Penhulurick, were too quick and too strong for Narberth scoring four tries between them.
The whole squad was used in this victory and everyone made a contribution. This win keeps the Quins in the title mix and team manager, Simon Rogers, felt that this was the team’s best performance since the team reformed. Next up will be Mumbles (away) on February 4th.
Try scorers ~ M. Penhulurick (3), D. Howells (2), R. Davies (2), S. Davies and C. Phillips.
